The More We Laugh The Longer We Live

Important Information

As a health care and financial wealth agent, I find it difficult in these tough economic times explaining to people just how much it is going to cost to get proper health insurance coverage. The monthly payments always seem so much higher than compared to what you are actually getting. The problem being of course is that we all need proper health coverage.

My job as a health insurance agent and financial wealth agent is to come up with the most beneficial plan for my clients. Each family has there own set of individual needs based on their current health situation and financial concerns. One solutions that I have come up with is to opt for a higher deductible, this will bring down the monthly payment, but allow the patient to see doctors in the network and still get the discounted rate.

The other tip is when visiting speciality doctors outside of the network, it may save you more money to negotiate cash with these doctors than try and use your insurance to go towards the deductible. Many of these doctors are also more willing to give you a better price if they do not have to go through insurance. You may be surprised at how much doctors are willing to negotiate prices these days.

Prescription Drugs

Prescription drug programs work in the same way as health care coverage works. With some prescription drug medications it is better to pay for it in the policy because the price is negotiated for you. There are however other prescription drugs that are better to buy outside of the policy if they are generic drugs. Many pharmacy's now offer $4.00 on generic prescriptions, where as in the insurance policy coverage you may be paying $25.00 for the same medication. Many prescription medications that are available today have a generic brand, so it pays to ask!

Saving Money Tips

The last bit of advice that is important, is that many times going to an urgent care center instead of a hospital can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Avoiding the emergency room for minor injuries is best, most urgent care facilities will take major insurance policies and they do not gouge you like the hospitals do. Remember when you go to the hospital you are paying the hospital and the doctors that you see you. This is not the case with most urgent care facilities. There are some urgent care facilities that you can also negotiate the price with if you are paying cash and not using insurance.

So to sum it up, you can save more money by getting a higher deductible, be a smart shopper when it comes to prescription medication, (using $4.00 generic when possible), negotiate with specialty doctors, and use urgent care instead of going to the hospital for minor injuries or illness.
